Kanved Patent Consulting has taken over all responsibility for patent work for Pescatech. The current focus is on a new salmon boning machine. Removing nerve bones from fresh fish has long been a problem. But Pescatech has solved the problem with a new method. Through advanced scanning technology, microwaves, carefully tempered water and movable rotor heads, Pescatech now makes it possible to remove nerve bones from significantly fresher fish than has previously been possible.
- It is a technology that can change the market significantly, as it can help get fresher fish on the table at consumers' homes. This will have a major impact on both the price and quality of especially salmon and whitefish on the market, Chris Bjerregaard emphasizes.
Pescatech is like a grassroots business in several ways. Patent protection has never really been their focus. But it still something they want to do because large companies, according to Chris Bjerregaard, try to keep others out via the patent system.
In recent years, Pescatech has experienced that their issued patent rights are exposed to oppositions from major players in the market who try to invalidate the rights. Here it is important with the right defense.
- Someone has to take up the fight. We do. Therefore, we insist that smaller companies can also invent new technology without the big companies "trampling the idea down", he says.
- Here, Kanved Patent Consulting fits well with Pescatech. We have previously worked with large patent firms, where theoretically there could be more experience and expertise. But that was not the case. It felt more like a milking machine, where additional expenses were constantly invoices. That's not the case with Nicolai. He is both more experienced, keep his promises and can explain the patent system in a way that we can understand, explains Chris Bjerregaard.
- Nicolai is clearly the best we have worked with. He has helped add some other angles and a more aggressive and accurate defense. And then he has come with a whole new energy. Working with larger companies, Pescatech found it difficult to build a continuity in the collaboration. These was a constant flow of new attorneys, so there was rarely proper control of the cases. This meant that there was a continuing need for educating new attorneys about the technology. This is not the case with Kanved Patent Consulting, says the director of Pescatech.
